Tour De Boothferry

Boothferry have been going cycle crazy, celebrating the first Tour de Yorkshire.

Our Youngest pupils had an endurance race, with the grounds being made into a cycle/scooter track.  The 3 and 4 year olds had to negotiate the tricky course, perform bike maintenance and even give their bikes a wash.  The Yellow Jersey along with medals for First, Second and  Third were presented to the winners on a real podium.

Our reception pupils had a wonderful day with David Butt, from the council’s  cycling team.  Using special bikes, they had to weave their way round a very tricky course inside the Hall.  They also learnt about the materials that make up Bikes.

Starting the week of 5th May, The School held a Bike Amnesty.  In conjunction with a local charity, any unwanted bikes were dropped off to be reconditioned and recently renovated bikes were available to buy, starting at just £20.  It was an excellent way to spring clean the shed and upgrade to reasonably priced, road worthy bikes.
