Boothferry Bake Off 2015

Boothferry Bake Off 2015

The annual Boothferry Bake off took place over the month month of February. This year, Years 1 and 2 had to design and bake a biscuit, Years 3 and 4, a cup cake and Year 5 and 6 took on bread.  Every child in the school spent time researching their product, held tasting and canvassed the staff on what they liked to eat.  The preliminary rounds were held in classes, with Mr Spencer and Mr Hackney serving as judges.  From this, each class had their champions who represented them in the semi finals, with the winners battling out against each other in the Grand Final.

The excitement in school leading up to Grand Final was electric.  The contestants could be found all around school perfecting their recipes and blind tasting new bakes.  The winning bakes were produced and displayed in the hall for our judges to admire.  Miss Bulmer and Mr Possible hosted the final, wearing Mel and Sue masks. The judges, Mrs Northern and Mr Capewell, were looking for perfect examples that looked and tasted fantastic.  The biscuits needed to have a good snap and a satisfying buttery taste,   the Cup cakes moist and decorated beautifully and the bread need to have a good rise and a golden crust.

After the tasting the results were in.  The winning bake was the Tear-and-Share bread, Baked by 6E.
