Volcanoes in Year 3

In year 3 over the last couple of weeks, they have had lots of fun exploring the different parts of volcanoes and understanding why we have natural disasters such as earthquakes in our world. They have been making jigsaws of the world to help understand the tectonic plates and see where these meet, also making play dough earths helping them understand the different layers and what each one is made out of. Furthermore they have made their own seismographs, to record the magnitude of earthquakes. The fun hasn’t stopped there, as they have stepped inside Ancient Pompeii learning about the terrible disaster that happened in 79AD. They are currently using their research they collected from Goole library to write up a news report on the Vesuvius eruption in Pompeii!
