Houses around the world
Following on from building our own houses last week, we have been exploring what houses look like around the world. We looked at what the houses were made out of and what features they had. We then created our own house from South Africa using Modroc. "The house stays cool in the summer"- Maja "I like the patterns that are painted on the walls"- Sebastian
Flanimals
We have been getting very creative this half term by designing and making our own Flanimals. We used junk modelling to create Flanimals and think about the habitat in which they live in. We also used salt dough and created Flanimals which we had described in class using our Boothferry Super Sentence techniques.
Becoming Master Builders
As part of our 'Buildings' topic in Year 1, the children were set a challenge to design and make a house for Emmet to live in. The children worked as a group to design a house, thinking carefully about the shape and size. The children used saws with support to cut their own wood and decorated the outer walls. Finally, the children evaluated their houses
KCFM
On Tuesday 24th November 10 children from Y3 and Y4 were selected to represent the school in a radio competition that is to be hosted by the radio station KCFM! The โBreakfast Showโ presenter Matt Hutchinson spent the morning in school and recorded our children asking a variety of questions that will be used as part of a phone in competition called โSmalltalkโ.
