Road Safety

To complete our part two week campaign surrounding road safety, East Riding’s Assistant Road Safety Officer, David Butt delivered an assembly on Stop. Look. Listen.  The timing was based around the clocks changing over the half term holiday, with the message specifically tailored to the needs our our local area.  The difference between dark and light clothing, reflective and Hi-Vis were all covered, alongside safe routes to and from school.

Other road safety items over the last 2 weeks have included balance bike training, lolly pop, pedestrian crossing workshops and Be Bright Be Seen assemblies.  The school also had some important visitors from the Local Authority who witnessed first hand the school’s work in this area.
The senior management team of the East Riding of Yorkshire Council visited Boothferry primary school as part of a day focused on issues related to Goole and the people of Goole.  Mike Furbank, Head of Education and Schools observed:
Boothferry Primary has sized the opportunities offered by the cycling initiative to transform the lives of many of its pupils.  It was wonderful to see the ranks of bikes and scooters that reflect the changing habits of children and families and reflect the commitment to healthy activity the school has.  Well done to staff and children alike and keep biking!

“Pupils who speak English as an additional language make rapid progress. Disadvantaged pupils are also supported well to make good,
