Writing

Our writing journey begins in EYFS, where children explore storytelling through talk, drawings and early mark-making, building the foundations of imagination and communication. As they move through Key Stage 1, pupils develop confidence in forming sentences, experimenting with vocabulary and beginning to structure simple narratives.

In Key Stage 2, this creativity grows into more sophisticated writing. Children learn to craft engaging openings, develop characters and settings, and organise their ideas into well-structured stories. By Year 6, pupils are able to write with clarity, control and flair, adapting their tone and style for different audiences and purposes.

The examples showcased here highlight this exciting progression, demonstrating how our pupils evolve from emergent writers into confident storytellers, equipped with the skills to express themselves effectively and imaginatively.
